On the down side, you have to wait for the project to be finished before moving in, and there’s no guarantee of mortgage approval until the project nears completion.
Resale, on the other hand, allows you to get mortgage approval and move in right away. You can see the home as it sits without having to worry about whether it’ll meet your needs. On the down side, you’ll need to have more money up front, and you may have to put some cash into renovations.
